The Clifton Community Centre in Central St Leonards on Sea was delighted to welcome supporters, funders, and partners to a celebration event on Friday 20th September. The centre is coming to the end of a year-long project to make the 100year old building more sustainable and accessible. Thanks to Biffa Award, the Isabel Blackman Foundation, East Sussex County Council, Hastings Roundtable, and many supporters including our hirers and fromacross the local community we now have a new lift, roof and damp repairs, new flooring, and a new boiler.
Guests included Lord Lieutenant Andrew Blackman, Mayor Judy Rogers, Chair of East Sussex County Council Roy Galley, Scott Coughlan from Biffa Award, Nick Neal Hastings Roundtable, Clifton Centre Trustees Peter Pragnell, Nick Terdre, Edit Farkas, manager Cath Tajima Powell and staff David Mence, Seaview chair Anna Barnes, Dawn Dublin from Black Butterfly, Peter Silk Ashdown Hurrey, Cllr Amanda Jobson, Gary Tidman Only Lifts, Ken Brookes Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes, music therapists Yair Katz and Andy Cooper, Musetta, Kathy and Unka from Villiers Park Educational Trust, Fiona McGarry Hastings Independent Press, Art therapist Nelly Curtis, crafters Grace O’leary and Madelaine Blomfeldt plus other guests and supporters from our community.
The evening saw music played by Yair Katz and a thank you speech by Chair of the Trustees Peter Pragnell.
